Obituary for Lola Hix

Lola Hix, 85, of Canyon, formerly of Lefors, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018.  Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Rev. Steve Olsen officiating.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors with Rev. Gene Jones, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating.  Lola Hix was born on January 3, 1933 in Loveland, Oklahoma to Zealous and Jewel Montgomery Chaudoin.  She married Ralph Hix on April 16, 1948.  They were married for 67 years before he preceded her in death on November 26, 2015.  Lola was a beautician for sixteen years and then was a supervisor for Marie Foundations Garment Factory in Pampa.  She also worked in banking for over twenty years in Pampa. Lola was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Lefors where she taught Sunday School for 41 years.  She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. Lola loved cooking and sewing and was the epitome of a Christian wife and mother.  She lived by her faith and was a Christian mentor to many.  She was loving and kind and had a unique way of helping people feel special.  She will be fondly remembered for her sweet smile that would radiate her joy to those around.  Lola was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them dearly. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen Hix, her husband, her parents, two sisters, Lois Berry and Shirley Gardner, and her brother, Ray Chaudoin. Lola is survived by a son, Jim Hix and wife, Judy of Canyon; five grandchildren, Christy, Jenny, John, Adam, and Brent; and six great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174, Hudson House, 3210 Russell Long Blvd., Canyon, TX 79015, or to a favorite charity.
