Obituary for LEONA E. HENRY

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Dr. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Leona E. Henry was born on November 29, 1913 at Antelope, Texas to Henson and Mary Miller Dawdy. She moved to the Panhandle area in 1921, attended Happy High School and graduated from Plainview High School. She married O.O. Henry at Canyon in 1933 and they farmed in Randall County for several years before moving to Canyon. She was employed by CISD, West Texas State University, and Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. She was a member of the Sunnyhill Home Demonstration Club and First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, James Henry. Survivors include one son, Joe Henry and wife, Lajean, of Hereford; three daughters, Lana White and husband, Billy, of Amarillo, Bette Pitts and husband, Terry, of Levelland, and Cheryl Schiller and husband, Jack, of Canyon; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Kings Manor Methodist Home, 400 Ranger Dr., Hereford, Texas 79045.
