She was married to Glynn for 72 ½ years, who affectionately called her "Shuggie," and they worked well together. Not only was she a homemaker, but she was her husband’s right hand, working as a ranch hand who could even build a fence. Layvon was also an artist and loved working with flower arrangements. She and Glynn looked forward every Sunday morning to watching David Jeremiah and First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Lovvorn. Survivors include her husband, Glynn Don Hughes, of Canyon; two sons, Fred Hughes and wife, Irene, of Dumas and Michael Hughes and wife, Janice, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Braun Hughes, of Austin, Robyn Massey and husband, Cory, of Austin, Joe Hughes and wife, Joanna, of Canyon, Amy Redus and husband, Rev.
