Obituary for Kevin John O'Toole
Kevin John O’Toole, 60, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 16, 2023.
Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Brooks Chapel with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating.
Kevin was born at the Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi on February 6, 1963 to Leo and Diane O’Toole. Kevin’s father was in the Air Force, so Kevin grew up in various places including the Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota, Albuquerque, NM, Amarillo, TX, and also resided in Canyon, TX. Kevin was also a resident of Boys Ranch in Waco, Texas and attended Axtel Texas High School in 1979 and Amarillo High School in 1980. Kevin received his GED in 1981 and studied electronics at TSTI. Kevin married Lori O’Toole on March 27, 1982. Kevin and Lori had a daughter, Tamara Christine O’Toole on February 19, 1983 and a son, Kelly Todd O’Toole on January 20, 1986.
Kevin was employed by Pott’s Country Restaurant, Terminix, Modern Cleaners and worked in maintenance at the electrical shop of the Physical Plant at West Texas State University. Kevin was later employed by the Clement’s Correctional Unit in Amarillo beginning in April 1990 and was later promoted to Captain of the Laundry Department. Lori and Kevin later divorced but remained close companions.
Kevin enjoyed fishing, camping, target shooting, horticulture, photography, collecting special and humorous t-shirts and especially spending time with his family and friends which included watching his grandchildren play sports or performing in other activities. Kevin also strongly loved his pets as well as all animals. Kevin was extremely caring, compassionate and a very humorous person. He especially loved eating and “sometimes” sharing his licorice and other candy.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother Diane O’Toole, Uncle Roy Davis, Uncle Jerry O’Toole, Aunt Marilyn Sayne and nephew CJ Mccallon, grandparents Leo and Florence O’Toole and Harold and Evelyn Davis.
Survivors include his father, Leo O’Toole of Edgewood NM; brother, Michael O’Toole and sister-in-law, Laura O’Toole of Albuquerque, NM; companion, Lori O’Toole of Amarillo; daughter, Tamara O’Toole and partner, Chance Wait of Canyon; son, Kelly O’Toole and daughter-in-law, Megan O’Toole of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jordyn Kirby, Bailey Wilson and companion Colin Arellano, Tyson Johnstone, Jaxon Johnstone, Dalton O’Toole, Lainey O’Toole, Lynlea O’Toole, Brecken Wait, Bristol Wait and Branson Wait; nephew, Nathan McCallon; and niece, Shelby Koehl. Kevin was lovingly known as Papa by his grandkids, Uncle Pooter by his niece and nephew and Dad or “Old Man” by his kids.
Kevin attended Living Water Christian Fellowship Church in Canyon, Texas where his son, Kelly O’Toole plays guitar with the Praise and Worship team. Kevin had a strong faith and relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
