Obituary for KATHY GAIL PLAIN TIJERINA

Services will be at 11:00A.M. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Donna Johnston, retired clergy, Dwayne Hollis, Pastor, Trinity Fellowship North Campus, and Rev. Rick Enns, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with a visitation and viewing following at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery Kathy Gail Plain Tijerina was born on June 4, 1965 in Canyon to Jim and Shirley Kliewer Plain, Jr. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1983 and then completed Exposito School of Hair Design in Amarillo. She worked at the Hair Studio in Amarillo. She married Mike Tijerina in Canyon on September 17, 1988. She was on the Canyon High Lady Eagle basketball team and was known for her leadership and hard work which carried over into everything she did. She enjoyed recycling and the Dallas Cowboys, and showed her love to family and friends through her cooking, especially her homemade hot sauce. Family and friends were the most important thing to her and she loved family gatherings and yearly camping trips. She also loved supporting her children and their friends in their many activities and was fondly known as "Mom" to many of her children"s friends. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Plain, and her father-in-law, Henry "Papi" Tijerina. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice and the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center for their loving care. Survivors include her husband, Mike Tijerina, of Canyon; her children, Phillip Michael and Madison Kathryn Tijerina, of the home; her mother, Shirley Plain, of Canyon; two sisters, Brenda Havens and husband, Mark, and Linda Tinsley and husband, Chris, all of Canyon; her mother-in-law, Felis Tijerina, of Canyon; three sisters-in-heart, Brenda DeLaGarza and husband, Fred, Margarita Riojas and husband, Eli, and Diana Escalante and husband, Robert, all of Amarillo; two brothers-in-heart, Roldan Tijerina and wife, Michelle, of Amarillo, and Edward Tijerina and wife, Lynda, of Bushland; six nieces, ten nephews, four great nieces and one great nephew.
