Obituary for KATHERINE MAE FORD

Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. David Lowrie, pastor First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Claude Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Brooks Chapel. Katherine Mae Ford was born on February 14, 1916 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi to Barney D. and Bertha Thompson Springer. The family moved to Happy and she graduated from Happy High School in 1934. Following graduation. she attended Draughan"s Business College in Lubbock. She met and married a farmer, Henry Ford of the Fairview community, west of Claude on November 22, 1938 in Dimmitt. She was active in the Fairview community and the Fairview Busy Bee Home Extension club. She was also active in county wide activities and was named Homemaker of the Year for Armstrong County in 1982. She moved to Canyon in 1989 and joined the First Baptist Church and the King"s Daughters Sunday School class. She became active in the Quilting Ministry and would tack a couple of quilts a week. She moved to Bartlesville, OK to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. Meme or "Aunt Kat" is survived by a son, Wayne Ford and wife, Lexa, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Shelby Ford and wife, Jennifer, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Maury Ford and wife, Ashley, of Dallas, Texas; two great grandchildren, Toby and Holly Ford, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; niece, Teddie Poindexter and husband, John, of Hereford; and several other nieces and nephews.
