Obituary for JOYCE T. STUBBLEFIELD

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Joyce Stubblefield was born on July 25, 1928 in Tahoka to Clay Floyd and Myrtle Blankenship Thompson, Sr. She graduated from O'Donnell High School in 1945 and attended West Texas State College in Canyon. She moved back to O'Donnell and worked as manager of the corner drug store. She married C.W. Stubblefield, Jr. on February 19, 1949 in Lamesa. Joyce was a member of the Canyon City Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star #105 and First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed life and people. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Floyd Thompson, Guy Thompson, C.S. 'Doc' Thompson, and David C. Thompson, and two sisters, Toye Lynn Farrington and Ann Debenport. We would like to express our gratitude to Ussery-Roan Texas Veterans Home for their loving care of our mother. We would also like to send a special thank you to Nancy, Corkey, Carlas and other staff members at Ussery-Roan and Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice of the Southwest. Survivors include her husband, C. W. Stubblefield, Jr., of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Harbour, of Stinnett and Toye Ann Stubblefield, of Canyon; two grandchildren, Lena Kathryn Harbour and Jacob Daniel Harbour and wife, Rachel; a brother, James D. Thompson and wife, Martha, of Canyon; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38102 or to Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79106.
