Obituary for JOHNNY PARKER

Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Happy with Dr. Richard Shaw, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Happy’s Memorial Chapel. Private interment will be in Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas. Johnny Parker was born on January 12, 1929 in Tahoka to John and Lola Patriel Brown Parker. He was the oldest of ten children and graduated from Abernathy High School. He married Lou Brown on March 12, 1955 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 2005. Johnny worked as manager of Happy Coop from 1963 to 1966. He then homesteaded in Nevada from 1966 to 1972, and in 1978 he became manager of Happy Wheat Growers. He was manager of Canyon Consumers Fuel from 1978 to 1997. Johnny then retired to farming and ranching. He was a big buyer in the livestock show each year and was influential in the Randall County farm industry. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Happy, where he taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of Canyon Chamber of Commerce. Johnny was always helping people in the community in any way he could and was especially active in helping the youth. He greatly enjoyed riding his bike and walking. He was also preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his current spouse, Verbie Parker; four children, Tim Parker and wife, Stephanie, Mollie Mitchell and husband, Roger, Angie Noel and husband, Brian, all of Canyon, and Billy Parker and wife, Jo, of Kingwood; his sister, Ruth Barrett, of Missouri; his brother, Don Parker and wife, Jeannie, of Happy; ten grandchildren, Callie Pullen and husband, Eric, Evan Parker and wife, McKenzie, Parker Noel, Payton Noel, Preston Noel, Kate Noel, Max Mitchell, Macy Mitchell, Lizzie Parker, and Zane Parker; and one great grandchild, Violet Pullen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 95, Happy, Texas 79042.
