Obituary for John Clifford Hanna

John Clifford Hanna, 69, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Living Water Christian Fellowship Church with Shane Nease, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Brooks Chapel.

John was born on October 14, 1953 in Dumas, Texas to Clifford ‘Hap’ and Margaret (Steffens) Hanna. He graduated from Texline High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John married JoAnne Conger on March 11, 1978 in Boise City, Oklahoma, and they moved to Canyon in August of 1993. He worked for Walmart Transportation for 35 years and had over 4 million accident-free miles, equivalent to driving around the world 160 times.

John enjoyed life and meeting new people, never coming across a stranger. He was a member of Living Water Christian Fellowship Church where he had many loving friends. Classic cars were a passion of his, and he loved attending and participating in many car shows. His favorite calling was being ‘Papa’, as he adored his grandchildren, making them laugh and spoiling them with his unconditional love.

John was preceded in death by his father, Clifford ‘Hap’ Hanna, on December 20, 1972, his mother, Margaret Hanna, on March 30, 2020, and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, JoAnne Hanna, of Canyon; three children, Jolynn Hanna Favalora of Ponchatoula, LA, Krysta Sanchez and husband, Ismael of Argyle, TX, and Shon Hanna and wife, Kylie of Royse City, TX; seven grandchildren, Shayni, Kinley, Emma, Logan, Elizah, Caden John, and MacKenzie; and one sister, Gayle Morris of Amarillo.
