Obituary for JOE KENNETH DAVIS

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 7, 2008 at Brooks Chapel with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating. Graveside services will be 4:00 P.M. Monday, April 7, 2008 at Stinnett Cemetery in Stinnett, Texas with military honors. Joe Kenneth Davis began his journey in eternity with God on April 3, 2008. He was born on April 7, 1933 to Pascal and Isabell Blankenship Davis at Sayre, Oklahoma. Joe worked as a millwright before enlisting in the US Army on May 5, 1954. He served as an instructor at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, and was also stationed in Japan, Germany, and Korea before retiring at Fort Sill, OK at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1982. After his military career, he worked for some time as a Civil Servant at Fort Sill, OK, and has been involved with several other organizations such as the DAV, VFW Post 5263, American Legion Post 0029, 40/8"ers (subsection American Legion), Mt. Scott Blue Lodge (Mason) 540, Shrinner India Temple, Ft. Sill Shrinners Club, Boys Ranch, and the Father Flannigan Boys Home. Joe moved from Lawton, OK to Canyon in 1997. He became a member of Grace Baptist Church where he married his second wife, Dee, in 1998, and was later baptized in 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Shizuko Davis, his father, Pascal Davis, mother, Isabell Davis Wells, step-father, Elton Wells, and his brother, Curt Davis. Survivors include his wife, Dee Davis, of the home; two daughters, Brenda Brock and husband, Stephen, of Canyon, Glenda Bartlett and husband, Arvin, of Houston; sister, Billie Overton, of Dumas; two brothers, Charles Wells and wife, Pat, of Stinnett, Jim Wells and wife, Cheryl, of Plano; five grandchildren, Joseph Derringer and wife, Torie, of Brea, KY, Angela Donnell and husband, Ryan, of Houston, Kimberly Brock, of Canyon, Kindra Brock, of Plano, Joshua Brock, of Canyon; and seven great grandchildren.
