Services will be Monday, December 18, 2006 at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon, Texas with the Rev. Dr. Don McDonald officiating. Jim was born February 28, 1948 to J. F. S Army 44th Engineer Group (Construction), 809th Engineer Battalion at Camp Ruam Chit Chai, Thailand. He was a life long employee of Messer Construction, Inc.; the family business his father established in Hereford, Texas. His earliest memories are of working with his father in his business and hunting with family and friends in Deaf Smith County. Jim was married to Cruse Olson on June 21, 1980 and they resided in Canyon, Texas. Both Jim and Cruse shared a love of the outdoors, spending time together and enjoying laughter and fellowship with family and friends. Jim loved the out doors; motorcycling, hiking and the beauty of the Texas panhandle. He was a match competition shooter and gun collecting enthusiast; but his true love was for his wife, daughter, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Cecil Ray Messer. Jim is survived by his wife Cruse Messer, his daughter Shyla and husband Seldon B. Hale IV of Okinawa, Japan; two brothers Jacky and wife Johnnie Messer of Hereford, Texas and Roy and wife MaryBeth Messer of Canyon, Texas and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
