Obituary for JIM GRABBER

Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 18 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Christopher Schwind, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umbarger, officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umbarger. James Edward "Jim" Grabber was born to John and Mary Grabber on May 8, 1953. He attended primary school in Umbarger and graduated high school in Canyon. Jim was self-employed and did contract work. This work included building playgrounds in several states as well as in Germany, Belgium and other European countries. He enjoyed talking about his travels and experiences. Jim enjoyed nature - growing flowers, sunsets, the Texas sky. He was known to share pictures of sunsets that were special. Several ladies were the recipients of his flowers. He enjoyed his friends which came from all walks of life and included all ages from young to old. We particularly thank all of those who helped him with transport to and from his medical treatments, provided food, visited him and helped with his other needs. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary L. Grabber. The family would like to thank all of the staff at BSA Hospital, Ware Living Center and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their care and loving service. They were exceptional. He is survived by his father, John Grabber of Umbarger; sisters, Pat Grabber of San Antonio, Clara Grabber of Umbarger, Bernadette Townsend of Canyon, and Irene Grabber of Amarillo; his brother, Tom Grabber of Amarillo; 6 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; 4 aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.
