Jim was born April 5, 1940 in Rome, Georgia to Noah David and Emma Minshew Couzzourt. He graduated from West Texas State University with a Bachelors degree in Languages and a Masters degree in Literature. Jim married Beverly Schmidt on November 6, 1981 in Canyon. While serving in the Air Force, Jim was a medic on stand by when the Bay of Pigs Invasion took place. He was most proud of serving in the Peace Corp and 4 of his years with the Peace Corp were served in Honduras. He had an amazing love for anthropology and archaeology of West Texas. He had been published numerous times. Jim was a member of the Texas Archaeological Society and also St. George’s Episcopal Church, where he served as St. Nicholas at the Feast of St. Nicholas. Jim was an amazing daddy and a devoted husband. He loved his girls. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Beverly; and two daughters, Maggie Hayes and husband, Aaron, of Canyon and Katie Couzzourt of Hinesville, Georgia.
