Obituary for JESS WALTER BREWER

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canyon, officiating. Jess Walter Brewer was born on May 30, 1920 in Cederdale, Oklahoma to Solan and Laura Choate Brewer. He attended VA Agriculture College and married Naoma Howeth in Fairview, OK in 1939. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during WWII and was the third wave to invade Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart Award. He farmed and ranched in Randall County since 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2003, and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Vynona Gale Goode, and husband, Roy, of Bushland; four sons, Tom Brewer, of Amarillo, Wayne Brewer, of Bushland, Don Brewer, of Hereford, and Hershel Brewer, and wife, Patricia, of Santa Barbara, CA; one brother, Don Wilcox, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a Favorite Charity or Veterans Affairs Health Care System, 6010 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, TX 79106.
