Jerry L. Martin, 85, passed October 2, 2021, at home.
He was born in Duncan, OK to Virgil and Helen Martin. He was raised in a happy, loving home with three siblings, where education was important. Jerry was a graduate of Canyon High and Texas Tech.
He married Bette Johnston in 1959. He served in the Army on a missile site as an officer. Jerry was an Art Director in Orange County, California. He did package design for 34 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil Martin; and sister, Helen Stapleton. Survivors include his wife, Bette Martin of the home; daughter, Laura Eroche of Canyon; son, Terry Martin (Emilie) of Tustin, CA; a sister, Sarah Von Tungels (Gene) of Houston; six handsome nephews; one excellent niece; and a grandson, Kyle Eroche of New Orleans.
Jerry loved Canyon and his beloved Class of 1954. He designed and donated the current city logo. He carried a dozen full-scale carousel horses in retirement. Jerry was a smart, creative man. He knew history well and enjoyed belonging to the Sons of the Confederate.
Jerry was loved and will be missed.
A private remembrance will be held at a later time.
