Obituary for JEANE KENNEDY MILLER

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. John Watson, Rector St. Peter"s Episcopal Church, officiating. Jeane graduated from Highland Park in Dallas, Texas and met her husband, Jerry Miller, at the University of North Texas. They moved to Canyon in 1963 and began their life together. Their forty-five years together consisted of low rent housing, make-"em-eat-it, lots of family love, and later, college degrees and grandchildren. Jeane was a teacher in the Canyon Independent School District for thirty-four years and loved her students in the Canyon elementary school on a level that has influenced their lives. Since retiring from CISD, she taught with "Where the Learning Continues" working with the special needs program in a college environment at WTAMU. Her students, Kati, Blake, Jacob, Mitchell, Anne and Chris were a key component of her life for the past two years. Jeane, a private person, loved to cook, entertain at her home, do yard work, take foreign trips, take special care of her precious cats, and help young people to be prepared for their individual lives. She would frequently see past students, many with their children, and she loved them all. She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Kennedy and a brother, Billy Kennedy. Jeane was passionate in her love of her husband, Jerry, also a teacher, her three boys, Mark Miller, and wife, Jeralyn of Memphis, Tennessee, Trent Miller, and wife, Rene" of Dallas, Texas, and Shane Miller, of Los Angeles, California. She also worshiped her grandchildren, Alexandria Marie and Jacob Miller of Memphis as well as Jack and Kyle Miller of Dallas. She is also survived by her father, Bill Kennedy, who (thank goodness) lives in Canyon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the WTAMU Foundation for the Jeane Miller Endowment to fund the WTLC Program, WT Box 60766, Canyon, Texas 79016.
