Jannet Louise Turner Allen, age 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2019, in Amarillo, Texas.   Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Anna Street Church of Christ, 2310 Anna Street, Amarillo, TX 79106 with Gene Shelburne and Wendell Powers, officiating.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. She was born October 5, 1949, in Okinawa Japan to Lt. Col. Joseph H. Turner and his wife, Tommy. Her father’s military career took the family to many places around the globe. She lived in Arizona, Texas, and Australia before returning to New Mexico during her later high school years.   In 1966, Jann graduated from Clovis High School. On February 8, 1969, she married Tyler Jay Allen at Cannon Air Force Base. Through the years, Jann held many positions, but none more important than the raising of her daughters.  She taught Lamaze education classes for 16 years, educating hundreds of pregnant women in the art of natural childbirth.  She loved these years of teaching, and all the people she met as a result.  Jann could somehow predict with uncanny accuracy the gender of each unborn baby and felt an attachment to each child born that benefitted from her small part.  Jann worked in journalism for the local NBC affiliate in Amarillo, she served as chairman for the Randall County Democratic Party and volunteered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society.   Her passion in politics took her door to door all over Randall County to promote voter registration. She was an active member of the Women’s League of Voters and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Jann was a member of the church that meets at Anna Street in Amarillo. Her creativity was expressed in many ways from folk art paintings to Vacation Bible School skits to creative writing.  She was clever, and she was witty. You would often find her surrounded by a crowd as she had a knack for telling stories and making others laugh.  Jann was a ferocious and avid reader, she felt right at home in the library and spent many summers hauling stacks of books home.  Jann's second career began with the birth of her first grandchild in 1994.  She matched her interests to anything her grandchildren were drawn to.  From football to legos, from cooking to mermaid tales Jann bought, found, explored and studied all things pertaining to her grandkids.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tyler of Canyon, Texas.  Also remaining, her brother, Budd Turner of Clovis New Mexico and sister, Jeri Putman of Lubbock, Texas.  She leaves behind 2 daughters, Monnie Burdett of Oceanside, CA and Dani Rembleski with husband Brady, of Sacramento CA.  Jann has five beloved grandchildren: Erik Burdett, Thomas Burdett and his wife Allison, Elias Rembleski, Kate Rembleski and Rachel Rembleski.  And lastly, it would be remiss not to include her faithful yellow dog, Gracie. Family, friends and others whose lives Jann touched are invited to the visitation Sunday evening and the Memorial Service Monday morning.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the local MS Society or SPCA.
