Janie B. Brown, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Faith Community Church in Canyon with Rev. Damon Deaton, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Fairmont Cemetery in Follett, Texas. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Janie was born November 17, 1946 to Oren Lemuel and Melba Beatrice Kennedy Fisher in Canyon. She had a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Tech University. Janie married Nolan Brown on May 27, 1967. She spent 25 years working for the Harrington Cancer Center and then moved on to take the position of human resources director for Potter County until her retirement. She was a founding member of Faith Community Church in Canyon. She loved people and was never without a smile. She enjoyed traveling to the family cabin in Colorado and was a great cook. She was also an avid Texas Tech fan. Most of all she loved her family, husband, children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Nolan Brown of Canyon; two sons, Brent Edward Brown of Austin, Stephen Craig Brown and wife, Angela of Canyon; two grandchildren, Carmen Marie Brown, Connor Craig Brown; two sisters, Ann Bledsoe and husband, Dick, Kay Tidwell and husband, Bob; and many nieces and nephews.   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Home Away from Home, 10701 W.
