Obituary for JAMES L. CROCKETT

Services will be at a later date. Mr. Crockett was born November 29, 1927 in Hollis, Oklahoma to John W. and Opal Crockett. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Boxer. After graduating from West Texas State University in 1951, he taught the Sioux Indian Veterans in South Dakota for two years. When he returned to Amarillo, he worked in the freight business for Hill Lines Freight Co. and ICX until he started his own business, MK Nationwide in Dallas. He retired to Canyon in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Maxine; two children, Linda Huber and husband, Dwight, of Amarillo, James R. Crockett and wife, Debbie, of Dallas; four granddaughters, Lyn Manley and husband, Todd, Sarah Schott, Janessa Corbitt, and Desiree Crockett; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Hannah, and Jackson Manley; and two sisters, Jane Cox and Joy Foster, both of Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church of Canyon, 2011 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
