Toney and Iris honeymooned at Brainerd Lake near Ward, Colorado which led to a love of the Rocky Mountains. As a child, her family homesteaded land in Recluse, Wyoming which contributed to her enjoyment of camping and picnicking with her husband and children. Iris had the best record at spotting antelope grazing in the fields during family vacation trips. She always put her husband and children first and rarely thought of herself. She held leadership positions for the Boy and Girl scouts and school homeroom mother in order that her children had opportunities to pursue their interests. She taught her children the golden rule and how to make the most of life. Family was the most important thing in her life. She worked at making life better for everyone she came in contact with. During WWII, she worked for the Veteran"s Administration in Missouri. She moved back to Texas working for Phillips Oil in Borger. She taught elementary school in Canyon and Happy before teaching High School Business classes. She also taught Sunday school. In her later years, at the nursing home, she excelled at bingo and loved to win the dollar grand prize as well as the runner up dime. She also enjoyed getting out of the home on special occasions. Iris always liked to eat homemade ice cream from the paddle. Iris" spaghetti sauce was the best and unlike any other. She is survived by her husband and four children. Lary and Phyllis Brown, of Black Hawk, Colorado, Garry and Claudia Brown, of Black Hawk, Colorado, Toni and Tom Farrell of Meadow, Texas and Nancy Bourgeois of Longmont, Colorado.
