Obituary for IMOGENE KENNEDY CROSSLAND

Services will be Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Charles Price, Director of San Antonio Baptist Association, Jim Hancock,and Gaylord Cook officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 4, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Interment is at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. Imogene Kennedy Crossland was born on September 11, 1917 in Cunningham, Lamar County, Texas the daughter of Daniel E. and Mary Page Kennedy. She married Aubrey Crossland on September 2, 1933, and they were together 65 years. Imogene was an exemplary mother, businesswoman, and Christian. Not only did she teach children and young women"s classes at the First Baptist Church, but she was also instrumental in the development and construction of the education wing. She graduated from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce with a business degree. She supported the programs of West Texas State University, and was a sponsor for many years of the Chi Omega sorority. Her business interests include work in the family-owned business, which included real estate, insurance, and property development. Mrs. Crossland was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Crossland in 1998, a daughter-in-law, Karen Crossland in 1996, her sister, Cumi Cook, and a brother, Claude Kennedy. The family would like to thank the staffs at the Hudson House, The Cottages, and Odyssey Hospice as well as Christi Vargas and Evelyn Jackson, who cared for Mrs. Crossland during her last years in her home. Survivors of Imogene include two sons, Dr. Kenneth Aubrey Crossland, of Canyon, William (Bill) Dan Crossland and wife, Cynthia, of Flower Mound; three grandchildren, Sara Crossland Bansemer, of Chicago, Creed Crossland , of Houston, Will Crossland, of Flower Mound; two great grandsons, Aubrey Hosman, of Chicago, Andon Swain, of Canyon; She also has a niece whom she loved like a daughter, Carolyn Clapp and husband, Mark, of Kingwood; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
