Obituary for Henry "Hank" Gerdsen

Henry “Hank” Gerdsen, 70, of Canyon passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with John Elser and Mike Kuhlman, officiating.

Hank was born on January 9, 1950 in Canyon to Herbert and Alice Kuehn Gerdsen.

The land that yielded crops and pastures where cattle roamed was treasured by Hank. He honored the Lord by taking care of the land. He knew that sometimes all that is green and still standing are the mesquite bushes, cactus plants and of course weeds.

One fall season featured Hank packing his VW and traveling to Denver, Colorado to attend the Rocky Mountain School of Art. The knowledge he gained and the projects he completed were a basket of blessings. He returned home as his dad’s health was failing. He wanted to continue to take care of the land and remain with family.
Hanks ability to always see the good in people sprinkled with his humor was a gift to many. The times shared with him were a blessing.

Survivors include his two sisters, Phyllis Gerdsen and Rosemary Prichard.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2600 4th Ave., Canyon, TX 79015; Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 3500 S. Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79109 or to your favorite charity.
