Obituary for Helen Caraway

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the University Church of Christ in Canyon with David Lough, minister, and Bob Shepard, Elder and Bible Chair Director, officiating. Graveside services will be at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Hereford, TX. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Helen Marie Caraway was born on March 2, 1922 in Cyler, TX to John Roy and Martha Ann Gandy Oglesby. Helen married Johnie B. Caraway on September 2, 1945 in Dawn, TX. She was a member of the University Church of Christ for 48 years. She was also a member of the Deaf Smith County Home Demonstration Club and the Dawn Music Club. She worked for the American Red Cross in Hereford for ten years. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 1, 1992. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Gunter and husband, Johnny, of Fritch; sons, Bob Caraway and wife, Ann, of Canyon, and Bill Caraway and wife, Becky, of Dawn; sisters, Hazel Stewart and husband, Reece, of Dawn, and Arless Stewart and husband, Ray, of Amarillo; brother, Robert Oglesby and wife, Eldine, of Sweeney, TX; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the High Plains Children"s Home, PO Box 7448 Amarillo, TX 79114, or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street Amarillo, TX 79109.
