Obituary for Haley Brian Burke

Haley Brian Burke “Hobbes”
November 19, 1974 - November 28, 2022

The family of Haley Brian Burke “Hobbes,” regrets to share that our loved family member died on the 28th day of November 2022. This comes as a surprise to all of us and we know this will impact us for an extremely long time.

While he was still in short-britches, he had an extremely strong work ethic. He regularly took his toy trucks outside and was told to have fun playing. His response was, “I’m going out to work.” In the last couple of years, he actually admitted that he focused too much on labor and not enough on the basic joys. One recent joy was getting to play trucks in the backyard with his two grandchildren.

One thing is certain, his core was always true to being a loving and serving person to all. We have heard and seen countless times he was there to assist a stranger on the side of the road or help anyone in need.

A family directed memorial service will be held on Dec 29, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Amarillo. The address is 3401 Bowie Street and the service will start at 10 A.M. There will be a gathering afterward in the fellowship hall with coffee and light snacks.

He is survived by his mother Iva Cryer, daughter Marcus Burke and her two kids Briggin and Bendi.

Instead of flowers, the family offers three suggestions. You can make a donation in Brian “Hobbes” name at Family Support Services of Amarillo. Another option is to help the family with future expenses by donating to the “Hobbes Family Fund” at the Education Credit Union in Canyon, Tx. Finally, when it is safe, please pass on the love and service to those around you in need. Let his legacy live on partly through doing as he would and caring for all our neighbors.
