Obituary for GRACE ELVADEAN ALLEN

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Rev. Don Lane, pastor of City Church in Amarillo, and Dr. David L. Lowrie Jr., pastor of First Baptist Church in Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Grace Elvadean Allen was born August 3, 1934 in Oklahoma to William and Etta Barber Barker. She married Wes Allen on June 28, 1985. She was an employee of Kraft Foods for 30 years, and lived in Canyon for 16 years. Grace was a longtime volunteer for the Parents Association of the Lubbock State School. She was active in support and volunteer programs at the City Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christy DeNegris in 2001. Survivors include her husband, Wes Allen, of the home; two daughters, Kay Buckholt, of Garland and Pam Tanney, of California; two sisters, Joyce Collier, of Longview, TX and Barbara Poe, of Mesquite, TX; a stepdaughter, Rue Lynn Allen, of Houston; three stepsons, Earl Allen, of Lubbock, John Allen, of Texas, and Paul Allen, of Houston; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family suggests that memorials be made to Lubbock State School Family Association, Box 10603, Lubbock, TX 79408.
