Obituary for Gerald Ray Swindell

On August 14, 2022 our Dad, Gerald Ray Swindell, passed away at the age of 69. He is free from pain now, and it is well with our souls.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Palo Duro Cowboy Church, 12200 US-60 in Canyon, with Casey Wetzel, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo.

Gerald Ray was born December 2, 1952 to William H. “Tom” Swindell and Wanda Swindell. Gerald married Carmen Lundegreen on April 10, 1971. Gerald and Carmen had two sons, James Ray and Ty Eugene. They were the light of their lives.

Gerald was a good man who loved God and his family. Gerald loved helping others. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked at Boys Ranch and was a volunteer fire fighter for Channing Fire Department until he retired in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; stepmother, Alene Swindell; brother, David and wife, Mary; stepbrother, Dale and wife, Laura; sons, James and wife, April and Ty and wife, Audrey; grandchildren, Krystian, Daryan, Chasity, Cheyenne, Bradley, Colyn, and Jacob; great grandchildren, Casey, Oliver, Telly, and Fytz Gerald; and a couple truckloads of nieces and nephews.
