Obituary for GEORGE LELAND MODE

George Leland Mode, 72, of Wildorado, died Wednesday, May 7, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford with Rev. Jim Bulin, pastor, officiating. He will lie in state at Brooks Chapel in Canyon through Friday, and will lie in state at Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery, Wildorado, Texas. Mr. Mode was born on November 16, 1930 in Cameron, Texas to Ollie and Amy Jane McCullough Mode. He married Joann Hickey at Corpus Christi on May 31, 1957. He farmed and ranched in Deaf Smith and Milam Counties and felt priviledged to do what he loved. He was a member of Avenue Baptist Church of Hereford. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Georjan, by his parents, one brother, Marvin Mode, and one sister, Wynelle Bishop. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Joann, of the home; one daughter, Clarissa Mode, of Hereford; one son, Marvin Mode, and wife, Kimberli, of Canyon; three sisters, Lucille Litzman, of Temple, Joyce Blake, of New Braunfels, and Theresa Carter, of Boise, Idaho; one brother, Troy Mode, of Cameron; and two grandchildren, Spencer and Olivia Mode, of Canyon. The family suggests memorials be to your favorite charity.
