Obituary for GEORGE HENRY FICKE Jr.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Private Committal will be held at Llano Cemetery. George Henry Ficke, Jr. was born on January 25, 1917 in Canadian to George and Luella Shaw Ficke. They moved to Amarillo in 1922 and he was a 1935 graduate of Amarillo High School and a graduate of Amarillo College. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a Sea Scout and Kwahadi. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific. He married Eileen Milligan in Amarillo in 1942 and they had two daughters, Margo and Lynn. She preceded him in death in 1986. He then married Waldeen Wilson in Canyon. She also preceded him in death. He had been employed by Southwestern Wholesale Drug, Ferrin Builders, and Pantex. He was a member of the Amarillo Masonic Lodge and Federal Retired Employees. He attended 10th St. Methodist Church and Trinity Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ficke, in 1999 and a sister, Margaret Lytle, in 1988. Survivors inlcude two daughters, Margo Fox, of Canyon and Lynn Mann and husband, Jim, of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Krisha Glenn and husband, Kyle, of Highlands Village, Paige TeBeest and husband, Donnie, of Bushland, and Austin Dowell, of Lubbock; four great grandchildren, Audrey Glenn, of Highlands Village, and Mitchell, Summer, and Autumn TeBeest, of Bushland; sister, Helen Rubin, of Lake Tanglewood; sister-in-law, Alice Ficke, of Lorena; and nieces and nephews, Gail Buchanan and Byron Forbes, both of Amarillo, Bill Ficke, of Waco, and Bob Ficke, of Lorena. The family suggests memorials be to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219-3993, or Kwahadi Heritage, Inc. 9151 E. IH 40, Amarillo, Texas 79015.
