Obituary for GEORGE EDWARD BULMAN

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 26 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John McClean, pastor, and Rev. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor at Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Private interment at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, at Brooks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. George was born June 22, 1928 near Clarendon to George Edward and Lela Cannon Bulman. He graduated from Clarendon High School and Clarendon Junior College. He attended West Texas State University for a short time. George married Billie Hodnett in 1948. They had three children, Susan, Rick, and Dale. In 1965, he married Edna Lou LaGrone and her three children, Stan, Susan, and Steve and they moved to Canyon, where he resided until his death. George was employed by Southwestern Public Service Company for 35 years. He retired in 1990 as Operations Supervisor at Nichols Station in Amarillo. He was an active member of Canyon First United Methodist Church for 43 years. He served many years on the Administrative Board and Finance Committee. He also served as Lay Delegate for the Annual Conference numerous times. He loved the church and was always glad to help with anything that needed to be done from visitation to repairs on the building. After he retired George began delivering meals for Meals On Wheels in Canyon and served as president of this organization for many years. George was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Billie Barbee, and a brother, Gene Bulman. Survivors include his wife, Lou, of 44 years; daughter, Susan Everitt and husband, Herb, of Amarillo; two sons, Rick Bulman and wife, Shelia, of Enterprise, Kansas, and Dale Bulman and wife, Anna, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two stepsons, Stan LaGrone and wife, Jeanett, of Canyon, and Steve LaGrone and wife, Rhonda, of San Antonio; step daughter, Susan Moldenhauer, of Canyon; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Land and husband, Bill, of Clarendon; a sister-in-law, Shirley Bulman, of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canyon First United Methodist Church, 1800 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, or to Meals On Wheels, 2616 13th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, or to a favorite charity. The family would like to thank all the caring, loving individuals with Odyssey Hospice and Canyon Healthcare for the care and hugs George received.
