Obituary for Genendal "Ginger" Eslinger

Genendal “Ginger” Eslinger, 88, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso, Oklahoma.

Ginger was born May 26, 1934 in Mena, Arkansas to Ira and Pauline Brewer Wellborn. She attended elementary school in Wellington, Texas and then went to high school in Bovina, Texas.

She married Guy Holloway in July of 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico and together they had two children: Richard and Debbie. In August of 1974, Ginger married William “Bill” Eslinger and they made their home in Adair, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death September of 2018 after 44 wonderful years together.

Ginger began working as a postal clerk in 1972 at the post office in Bovina, Texas. After marrying Bill in 1974, she transferred to the post office in Claremore, Oklahoma and then retired at the age of 62. She moved to Oklahoma City to live with her son, Richard, before making a final move to Amarillo, Texas in 2019 where she had been living at The Legacy at Town Square.

She was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Adair, Oklahoma.

Ginger was a big daddy’s girl; he taught her how to dance even though they were Baptist. She was passionate about sewing especially embroidery. She loved to bake and cook meals for her family.

Survivors include her son, Richard Holloway and wife, Alice; daughter, Debbie Kuhlman and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Michael Holloway and wife, Lacey, Jennifer Brem and husband, Jonathan, Justin Reed, Brandi Miller and husband, Jesse, and Ashlee Nichols and husband, Brett; and great grandchildren, Gavin Holloway and wife, Zoie, Katelyn and Kylie Holloway, McKayla, Landon, and Carly Brem, Max Reed, Tyler Warner, Brynlee Miller, and Laikyn, Lennyn, and Brexton Nichols.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Pleasant Hope Church, 4845 W. 370 Rd., Adair, OK 74330 or to your favorite charity.
