Obituary for Gary Landon Barrett
Gary Landon Barrett, 67, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with Tom Stribling officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon.
Gary was born on June 13, 1954 in Roswell, NM and graduated from Happy High School in 1973. He attended W.T.S.U. and married Brenda Dietz on August 10, 1977. Gary worked at Randall County Sheriff Office and R&S Drills, and for the past 32 years, he managed Farmers Elevator in Happy.
Gary was lovingly known as ‘Pops’ by his grandchildren, whom he loved watching play sports and show their pigs. One of his greatest joys was helping the young farmers get a good start as well as harassing all of his customers and in turn, counseling and encouraging them through difficult times.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, George Landon Barrett in 1961, his mother, Joyce Patching in 2008, his dad, Robert Patching in 1984, and two daughters, Julie Barrett Weise in 2003 and Jaci Barrett in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Barrett; two daughters, Jenny Vincent and husband, Sage, and Joli Hauser and husband, Dean; son-in-love, Geoffery Weise and wife, Megan; five grandchildren, Brylynn and Layton Hauser, Brooklyn Vincent, and Remington and Riverleigh Weise; his sister, Teri Rainey and husband, Tommy; and a host of other family and friends.
The family suggests memorials be to the Julie Barrett Weise Scholarship Fund, WT Box 60766, Canyon, TX 79016.
