Obituary for Fransas Don "Pops" Bright

Fransas Don “Pops” Bright, 77, of Childress, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Rev. Gene Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery.

Pops was born on April 17, 1943 to Fransas Ira and Verna (Driver) Bright. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, and following his service, he worked for Bell Helicopter. He married Elsie Williams at Grace Baptist Church in Canyon on July 18, 1980. He owned and operated Bright Truck Shop in Canyon and was then a diesel mechanic for Freight Liner and Peterbilt in Amarillo. Pops and Elsie moved to the Flying B Ranch in Childress in 1998 where he began ranching, a life he dearly loved.

In his earlier years, Pops was a saddle bronc rider. He loved his dogs and horses and enjoyed sitting on the back porch at the ranch where he could watch the sun rise and set and watch his cattle and his horses. Pops was a Mason.

Pops was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Mills, and his brother, Keith Bright. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Elsie Bright; his children, Michelle Foster and husband, Gary, Andy Bright and wife, Cristi, and Kimberly Powers; and five grandchildren, Allan Houk, Autumn and Cale Bright, and Danica and Dylan Powers.
