Obituary for Frances White Huber

On Monday, March 9, 2020 in Denton, Texas, Frances White Huber, loving mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 96.

Frances White Huber was born on August 25, 1923 in Happy, Texas to Ernest A. White and Merle McManigal White. She graduated from high school in Happy in 1940. Mrs. Huber attended West Texas State University and received a bachelor’s degree in education. She married Jacob V. Huber in Fort Worth in 1943. They had one son, Dwight W. Huber. She was a long-time resident of Amarillo and taught in the Amarillo Public School System for 23 years. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Presbyterian Church, several bridge clubs, and the Tascosa Country Club Women’s Golf Group.

Frances was known for her genuine politeness, honesty and ability to find joy in the simple things. Even after retiring from her teaching career, Frances continued to adore and care for children. She loved to sew, quilt and cook in her free time, and many of her quilts still warm family member’s beds and hearts.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob V. Huber and her son, Dwight W. Huber. Frances is survived by her grandson, Jason V. Huber and wife Mary of Denton; granddaughter, Margaret J. Huber of Austin; great-grandchildren, Maya Huber and Kai Huber of Denton; daughter-in-law, Linda Huber of Amarillo; and family friend Jo Betsy Smith of Dallas.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care of Denton and Hudson House of Canyon for their compassionate care.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
