She enjoyed gardening and was known for her fried chicken and sweet tea. She loved cooking for everyone and would have given her last cinnamon roll, last pickle, last piece of chicken, or last dollar just to be able to serve and give. She will be fondly remembered as "Grandmommy" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered by her family for her life and her example as a follower of Christ. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy J. Gerber, in 1999, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include nine children, Tom Gerber, Romilda Friemel, Don Gerber and wife, Theresa, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Gerber Gillispie, Janice Wieck and husband, Larry, Carolyn Wieck and husband, Jim, Glenn Gerber and wife, Vickie, Sharon Gerber, Linda Moore and husband, Kenneth, and Kenneth Gerber and wife, Terrie; forty-two grandchildren; eighty-seven great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176, or Umbarger Senior Citizens, 22700 Pondaseta, Umbarger, Texas 79091.
