Obituary for FRANCES INEZ AVARY BASS BARNETT

Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. Charles Townsend, officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 14, at Brooks Chapel from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Frances Inez Avary Bass Barnett was born on June 18, 1925 in Childress County, Texas to Samuel Newton and Lydia Myrtle Franks Avary. She was born and raised in the home her parents built the year of her birth five miles south of Carey, Texas, and she attended school at Carey. Inez worked as a nurse's aide. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seagraves. She married Hubert Bass in 1946 in Paducah and helped raise his children. She married Harry Fillmore Barnett on March 10, 1963 in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a stepdaughter, Wanda Jane Bass, a brother, Charles Russell Avary, and her sister Marie Avary Faulkenberry. She was survived by her sons, James Alan Bass, of Loxahatchee, Florida; twin stepsons she raised from infancy, Jerry Dwayne Bass and wife, Martha, of Eldorado, and Larry Dean Bass and wife, Dixie, of El Paso; sisters, Lucille Avary Faulkenberry, of Seagraves and Willie Avary Osborn Diggs, of Canyon; and her brother, Luke Avary and wife, Helen, of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter, Ste., 404, Amarillo, TX 79106 or to the First Baptist Church of Canyon, 1717 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
