Obituary for Floyd Raymond Pletcher
Floyd Raymond Pletcher, 90, of Canyon, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with his daughters officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton with Dale Pletcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Brooks Chapel.
Floyd was born on November 27, 1932 in Ochiltree County to Paul Odessa and Alice Beatrice (Kile) Pletcher. He was a lifelong learner and studied Geology at WTSU. Floyd married Julia Carol Busch on August 19, 1952 in Rockdale, Texas, and they moved to Canyon in 1962. They then moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1965 and lived in Nevada until retirement when they returned to Texas. He was a carpenter and farmer.
Floyd was a member of Faith Community Church and a member of Carpenters’ Union Local # 971. He was interested in Biblical Archeology, particularly in the excavation of Masada.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Survivors include his wife, Judy Pletcher; four daughters, Rhonda Gale Pletcher, Lyn Dickerson and husband, David, Jayne Reynolds and husband, Randy, and Janis Sluder and husband, Mike; five grandchildren, Paige Jones, Stephanie Cortez, Jace Sluder, Trey Sluder, and Travis Reynolds; seven great grandchildren, Raylan, Adeline, Kayleigh, Wyatt, Brinleigh, Noah, and Robbie; and one brother, Dale Pletcher.
The family suggests that memorials be made to India Gospel Outreach, PO Box 550, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91729-0550.
