Fayree ‘Faye’ Watkins, 90, of Amarillo, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo and Memorial services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Dale Moreland officiating.
Faye was born on April 27, 1931 on the family farm near Silverton, TX. She married Melvin Watkins on February 15, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1987. She worked for fifteen years in the jewelry department at Stein Mart. Faye was a wonderful mother, homemaker, and provider and a devoted caretaker to her husband. She enjoyed snowmobiling in her earlier years and loved working in the yard, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Faye is also preceded in death by a daughter, Nita Todd, granddaughter, Morgan Todd, sons-in-law, Ben Shoemake and Don Sweet, and her brother, Travis McMinn. Survivors include two daughters, Gail Shoemake of Amarillo and Melanie Sweet of Canyon; son-in-law, Mike Todd of Liberal, KS; four grandchildren, Todd Shoemake and wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque, NM, Matt Shoemake and wife, Melissa of Atlanta, GA, Jeremy Todd and wife, Amanda of Kansas City, KS, and Lindsey Sweet of Albuquerque, NM; and four great-grandchildren, Lyle and Colvin Shoemake, and Pierce and Rhys Todd.
