Obituary for EVELYN ROBERTS GREEN JACKSON

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Dreamland Cemetery with Bob Shepard, Elder and Bible Chair Director, University Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Evelyn Roberts Green Jackson was born on November 7, 1920 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas to Jordan and Willie Copeland Roberts. She married Vernon Green on August 6, 1938 and they moved to Canyon in 1949. He preceded her in death in September, 1980. She then married Durell Jackson on September 2, 1983, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She continued working on her education, taking computer and Spanish courses and received her GED in her early 60"s. She then graduated at the top of her class from the State of Arkansas Home Health Care when she was 65. She was a member of University Church of Christ for fifty years, the National Registration of Medical Secretaries Association, Beta Sigma Phi International, and from 1981 to 1983 she sang with the Sweet Adelines of Canyon. She was a dedicated Bible scholar, wife, mother and grandmother. She was also an accomplished business woman, vocalist, seamstress and gardener. She was also preceded in death by a brother, J. L. Roberts, Jr. and a sister, Charlene Henry. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Ware Living Center of Amarillo. Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Barlow and husband, Dean, of Amarillo, and Linda Green, of Amarillo; a sister, Marge Moran and husband, Jim, of Minden, LA; two brothers, Dr. Larry Roberts and wife, Cora, of Magnolia, AR, and Johnnie Roberts, of Murfreesboro, AR; three granddaughters, Donya Poole, of Oklahoma City, OK, Summer Miller and husband, Bob, of Kansas City, MO, and Beth Forrest and husband, Joel, of Canyon; two grandsons, Scott Powers and wife, Vicki, of Canyon, and David Poole, of Lubbock; ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.
