Obituary for Eural W. Ramsey

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. David Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Eural W. Ramsey was born on June 18, 1930 in Sudan to Thomas and Gladys Keisling Ramsey. He married Beth Roach on December 29, 1951 in Clovis, NM. He graduated from Texas Tech University where he received his Master"s degree and played football. He began coaching football in 1958 and was head football coach at Pampa from 1965 to 1967. He moved to Canyon in 1968 and taught at West Texas State University where he was head of Driving and Safety Education and a professor in the Physical Education Department until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce, a Mason, and a member of Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Tech Letterman"s Club, and First Baptist Church of Canyon. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosa Lee Ramsey in 1955. Survivors include his wife, Beth Ramsey, of the home; son, Eural Wayne Ramsey, II, of Amarillo; daughter, Robbie Wiley, of San Marcos; brother, Lester A. Ramsey, of Lubbock; sister, Mrs. Jimmie Wanda Mason, of Lubbock; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176; First Baptist Church, 1717 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015; or a favorite charity.
