Obituary for ERNEST E. ROSE

Services will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Dale Dennis, minister of San Jacinto Church of Christ, and Dean Whaley, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Chapel on Sunday, May 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Ernest "Ed" Rose was born on April 26, 1925 in Whitney, Texas to John Riley and Mary Elizabeth McDonald Rose. He married Ruth Parker on April 10, 1946 in Brownfield, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2009. Ed worked as a radar operator for the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation, District 5, in Lubbock for 25 years and has been a resident of Amarillo since 1991. He was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ, TPEA, Merry Mixer Square Dance Club, and Panhandle Old Time Music Association. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald Edwin Rose, in 1963, a grandson, Eric Wayne Rose, in 1997, three brothers, Dalton Hershel Rose, in 1986, John Allen Rose, in 2008, and Donald Ray Rose, in 2007, and a sister, Gladys Geneva Keener, in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Best and husband, Charlie, of Albuquerque, NM, and Norma McDonald, of Azle, TX; a son, Jerry Rose and wife, Tricia, of Canyon, TX; two granddaughters, Cecilia McDonald, of Weatherford, TX, and Andi Rose, of Canyon; a grandson, Jason McDonald and wife, Yvonne, of White Settlement, TX; a great granddaughter, Amber Theiss, of Weatherford, TX; two brothers, Mark Rose and wife, Dorothy, of Burnett, TX, and Bob Rose and wife, Carleen, of Whitney, TX; and six sisters, Faye Warren and husband, Wink, of Wolfforth, TX, Christine Purvis, of Brownfield, TX, Irene Brown Winslet, of Lubbock, TX, Nina Depoyster, of Brownfield, TX, Inez Turner, of Hobbs, NM, and MaryNell Young and husband, Warren, of Odessa, TX.
