Obituary for ERNEST O. NEFF

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Brooks Chapel. Burial is at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Ernest Neff was born on September 18, 1916 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Karl and Mary Hanneman Neff. He married Ruby Cummings on December 27, 1949 in Clovis, NM. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2006. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Fred, and Otto Neff. Ernie enjoyed a zest for life in giving to others and received great joy in telling stories to all ages. A World War II veteran serving as a bomber mechanic in the US Army Air Corps. Ernie later showed his dedication to veterans by serving as post commander of the DAV in McAllen, TX. Ernie was an accomplished rancher/horseman, farmer, dairyman, and a talented innovative engineer. A father to five children, Ernie served each of his children and his grandchildren in a way special to each one of them. Survivors include his four daughters, Ronda Ross and husband, Jim, of California, Peggy Turner, of Dallas, Mary Sue Hogue, of Amarillo, Trisha Gleason and Husband, Jim, of Indiana; son , Clyde Neff and wife, Anita, of Lubbock; and four grandchildren, Dallas Hogue, Madison Gleason, Sara Gleason, and Alex Neff.
