Obituary for Elizabeth Kay Lemon

Elizabeth Kay Lemon, 79, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Freedom Fellowship Church with Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Brooks Chapel.

Kay was born in Sweetwater, Texas to Howard Payne McLaughlin and Myrtabel Merrick McLaughlin on August 30, 1941. After graduating Andrews High School in 1959, Kay attended Texas Tech University where she met her husband, Ron. They moved to Washington D.C. where Ron served in the U.S. Navy Band. Later, they moved to New Orleans for several years before eventually moving to Kansas. Ron and Kay finally moved to Canyon, Texas where they have remained. Kay was an avid lover of the piano and had a private studio for several years in her home. She enjoyed having friends around, going to garage sales, and looking at antiques. She loved reading her bible and spending time with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She adored her children and grandchildren, and she often said that her one true calling was to be a good mother. She will be missed by her family and by her many friends, for whom she often prayed.

Kay is survived by her husband Lynn Ronald “Ron” Lemon; her children, James Ronald Lemon(Cariann Holgers), David Lynn Lemon(Heather Elizabeth Lemon), Lorisa Carole Lemon; and by five grandchildren, Kim Lumley, Emily Samantha Lumley, Samuel Lemon, Blake Ryan Rohus, and Brooke Rheanna Rohus. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Lemon.

Flowers may be sent to Brooks Funeral Home in Canyon, Texas. Any donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, Freedom House of Freedom Fellowship Church, any of the food charities of Amarillo, the American Cancer Society, or to any Blood Bank.
