Obituary for ED SLAY

Ed Slay, 64, of Canyon, died Monday, December 31, 2001. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2002, at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Debra Huffman, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. Ed Slay was born on July 27, 1937 at Wellington, Texas to Temple and Bessie Fraser Slay. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1955. He married Charlotte Crain at Wellington in 1959 and graduated from WTSU in 1960 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was employed by FDIC for seven years and then was in banking in Houston and Austin until he retired in 1993. He moved to Canyon in 1997. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Canyon and served in the National Guard for many years. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Slay; one son, Joel Slay, and wife, Jacque, of San Antonio; one daughter, Carolyn Slay, of Ft. Worth; one sister, Nell Knox, of Amarillo; one brother, James T. Slay, of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Alex and Eric Slay, of San Antonio. The family suggests memorials be to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch PO Box 1890 Amarillo, Texas 79174.
