Obituary for ED LEMONS

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 30 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport and Max Brown, Chaplain of Interim Hospice, officiating. Interment will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 29 at Brooks Chapel from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Claudie Edgar Lemons was born February 22, 1921 in Vera, Texas to Claud and Lena Goodwin Lemons. He married Lois Barlow on March 9, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico. They resided in Hereford for 63 years and then moved to Canyon in 2003. Ed was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church in Dawn, where he was ordained as a Deacon. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Hereford from 1967 to 2003, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Canyon. Ed taught the 4 year old Sunday School Class for 25 years. He was a farmer and rancher in the Hereford area. After retirement he owned and operated Lemons Life Line in Hereford. Ed was a lifetime member of Kiwanis International. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Montgomery; father, Claud Lemons; brother, Walter Lemons; and a sister, Dorothy Black. A special thank you to all the care givers who stood by our side til the very end. Survivors include his wife, Lois; daughter, Beverly Grimes and husband, Ray, of Canyon; son, Gary Lemons, of Ruidoso, NM; five grandchildren, Brian Wagner, Courtney and John Thomas, Jaclyn and Chad Henjum, Jason and Candice Lemons, Jonathan Lemons; eight great grandchildren, Jourdyn, Kennedy, Kaden, Justin, Lucas, Carrington, Logan, and Barrett; sister, Jessie Averill, of Canyon; brother, Donald Lemons, of California; three step-grandchildren, Edward Grimes, Alan Grimes, and Janice Billingsley; and nine step-great grandchildren; and a very special niece, Doris Coursey.
