Dorris “Wayne” Johnson of Canyon passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, in Dimmitt at the age of 74. Wayne was born on April 16, 1946, in Pampa. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1965. Wayne lived in Oklahoma City for much of his adult life and worked many years for Lyntone Industries Inc. in Edmond, Oklahoma, which was a manufacturer of leather belts. Later, he moved with his mother and came to Canyon. Wayne enjoyed conversations on all manner of topics and loved perusing catalogs of all sorts. He was very fond of his nieces and nephew and their children. Wayne loved his family and had a good heart. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Prock Carrier, and a brother, Joe Johnson. Wayne is survived by his sister, June Friemel and husband Kenneth, of Leander; his brother, Gene Johnson, of Canyon; a nephew, Brandon Friemel and wife Kendra of Liberty Hill; a niece, Shana Nicholson and husband James, of Round Rock; a niece, Rebecca Sanders and husband J.C. of Brundidge, Alabama; and 9 great nieces and nephews: Mikayla, Allie, and Brock Friemel; Thomas, Helen, Matthew, and Emily Nicholson; and Faustina and Philip Sanders.
