Obituary for Donnie Welty, Sr.
Donnie Welty, Sr., 75, of Canyon, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Memorial services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Brooks Chapel.
Donnie was born October 14, 1947 in Hereford, Texas to Donald and Opal (Price) Welty. He was a graduate of Hereford High School. Donnie was a hard worker. He worked in body shop management and later became an insurance appraiser.
Donnie had big dreams. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed the great outdoors especially fishing, hunting, and camping. Spending time with his family was what he loved the most. He also enjoyed quality time spent with his grandchildren and showing them his art.
He was a loving and caring father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Welty and Jonnie Welty.
Survivors include his three children, Donnie Welty, Jr., and wife, Rebecca of Danbury, Shane Welty and wife, Laurie of Irving, Jodi Lueb and husband, Jason of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ronnie Welty and wife, Beth, and their family of Canyon.
The family suggests memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign Affairs, VFW Post 430, PO Box 417, Canyon, TX 79015 or to the PTSD Foundation of America, www.ptsdusa.org.
