Obituary for DONNA E. WILSON

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00A.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Dreamland Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00A.M.at the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon with The Rev. Don McDonald, Rev. of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon, and Pastor Gary Hubbard, son-in-law, officiating. A Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 12, 2007 at Brooks Chapel from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Donna E. Wilson was born on October 30, 1917 in Springfield, Ohio to Howard Earl and Gertrude Gordon Sise. She married W.R. Bill Wilson on June 7, 1941 in Springfield, Ohio. He preceded her in death. She moved to Canyon in 1948. She received a two year teaching certificate from Wittenberg University at Springfield, Ohio. She also, received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from West Texas State University. She taught public school in Springfield, Ohio, Norman, Oklahoma, and Canyon. She began teaching in Canyon in 1958 and retired from Oscar Hinger Elementary School in Canyon in 1982. After retirement she taught at Pyap University at Chiang Mai, Thailand. She was a member of Delta Zeta Social Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society, and Life member of N.E.A. She served as president of Canyon Classroom Teachers, Delta Zeta Alumnae, Delta Kappa Gamma, A.A.U. W., and Canyon Fine Arts Club. She was the State Elementary Division Chairman of Texas Music Educators Association and was selected as the Outstanding State Alumnae of Delta Zeta in 1982. She was also an Elder of The First Presbyterian Church in Canyon and directed the choir there for many years. Her sons Gordon Richard "Ric" Wilson and Rodger Mark Wilson also preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Kay Wilson Hubbard and husband, Gary, of Munday, TX; grandaughters, Kima Coltharp and husband, Scott, of Wimberly, TX, Kelli Pollard and husband, Todd, of Snyder, TX; four grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family suggests memorials be sent to The William R.
