Obituary for DONALD DWIGHT TAYLOR

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo with Rev. Billy Nickell officiating. Burial and memorial services will be held in Trenton, Missouri on November 30, 2006. Mr. Taylor was born June 6, 1946 in Trenton, Missouri to Ernest Samuel and Helen Lorraine Fulkerson Taylor. He married Sue Ellen Keith on May 30, 1970 in Spickard, Missouri. Prior to moving to Texas, Mr. Taylor was owner of the 3T Lawn and Garden Center, co-owner of the Fun Farm and the Two Dollar Bill, and was director of the Trenton Chamber of Commerce. In Texas, he was a member of Amarillo First Assembly of God Church where he previously taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University and worked for West Texas A&M University as the Executive Director of the WTAMU Enterprise Network and served as President and CEO of Data Staar Communications. In addition to his work, Mr. Taylor had a long list of civic involvements and was well known throughout the Texas Panhandle. He was an internationally recognized business analyst, author and specialist in the areas of business survival and fast growth companies. For several years, he wrote the column "Minding Your Own Business" which appeared weekly in over 150 newspapers and trade publications. He conceived and coauthored Up Against the Wal-Marts- First Edition and recently authored Up Against the Wal-Marts - Second Edition, wrote Solid Gold Success Strategies for Your Business, was a contributing author in Confessions of a Shameless Self Promoter and at the time of his death was writing two fiction novels. Mr. Taylor was also a professional speaker and had received the "Distinguished Leadership and Communication Award" from Toastmasters International and was honored with the "Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award" from Wayland Baptist University. He was recognized by Auburn University as a "Distinguished Speaker in Business" and received the "Distinguished Leadership Award" from West Texas A&M University. He was a professional member of several national associations. Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; his daughter, Christi, of Canyon; his mother, Helen Taylor, of Trenton, MO; one brother, Jerrold Taylor and wife, Ann, of Fulton, MO; a half brother, Dale Taylor, of Concordia, MO; mother-in-law, Helen Keith, of Gainesville, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean and Linda Keith, of Rolla, MO; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Babe and Jim Roy, of Spickard, MO; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
