Obituary for Donald Lee Dufek
Donald Lee Dufek, 97, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Darla Nickell officiating.
Donald was born on September 22, 1923 in Billings, Oklahoma to Frank and Thelma (Postlwaite) Dufek. He attended Oklahoma University. Donald married Clara Faye Russell on April 2, 1948 in Dallas Texas.
Donald served with the Army Air Corps and participated in the Independence of the Philippines. He was a radiology engineer and worked at Pantex and Livermore Laboratory and consulted for University of California. He moved to Canyon in 2014 and was a longtime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Donald was a sailor, traveler, adventurer, and poet. He was an avid reader who loved his family.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Faye, and a brother, Jack Dufek.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Joan Smith, Lynda Shroyer, and Donna Cavrich and husband Nick; grandchildren, Shawn Smith and wife, Carol, Shannon Smith and wife, Elizabeth, Todd Looney and wife, Susan, Tad Looney, Nichol Monahan, and Nathan Cavrich and wife, Kristi; 10 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2200 FM 2590 Soncy, Canyon, TX 79015.
