Obituary for Don Renegar

Don Renegar’s earthly journey ended on August 27, 2022 when he was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Donnie Lewis Renegar was born to Archie Calvin Renegar and Myrtle Kate (Kellum) Renegar on June 16, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas. Don’s mother later remarried Ward James Ellis whom Don accredited having a marked influence on his life.

Don married the love of his life, Linda Manley, in 1962. In 1966, Don and Linda were blessed to welcome their son, Gregg Renegar, the pride of Don’s life. When asked why there were no more children, his favorite reply was “Why try to improve on perfection when you got it right the first time?” and the Lord knows if he had a daughter, she would have been spoiled rotten.

Don was a good and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo where he served as Deacon, choir member, and as part of the media staff. He loved woodworking, fostering dogs, coaching baseball, creating delicious meals and bakery items, gardening, and he was an all-around handyman. To Don, there was no problems, just solutions.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Gregg Renegar and wife, Trina; grandchildren, Brinton Renegar, Emily Drake, and Michael Mundell; and sister-in-law, Luana Reed and husband, Jim. Don is preceded in death by his brother, Buddy, his mother and step-father, Myrtle and Ward Ellis, and his sisters, JoAnn Staats and Eunice Freeman.

The family wishes to thank the staff of BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their loving care of Don.
There will be no service at this time, and in lieu of flowers, Don wishes were any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Amarillo.
